Boundaries, that hold musician tightly, without the chance to breathe life into music, whether that would be genre boundaries, personal psychological boundaries or music community boundaries.

These are the most uncomfortable things to deal with for musicians, getting out of the comfort zone and establishing a new, personal sound for themselves, unlike any others. The process can differ from person to person, as well as their influences, the resolution to that would be similar for everyone: not having any blocks that can stop you from the exploration of the vast universe of music.

Meet Ivan, also known as GNAAR, who had been in such a situation before he arrived into the community of experimental bass music that isn’t bound by genres and covers a whole ton of different sound palettes. Coming originally from Tearout / Riddim community, he quickly found himself feeling uncomfortable with what he has due to several reasons, such as rejection by the community itself, as well as it’s closed-mindedness and apparent ignorance to music development, overall concentrating on hype of the product that was about to become one the most oversaturated genres of this decade. Feeling the passion towards artistic expression, evolution and doing something that requires imagination, knowledge and soul, he started to break out of the existing chains that were binding him to what he had become.

This EP represents a personal growth on all levels, including psychological, as well as outcome of such maturing, and with that, walking into a new stage of life; giving start to a new part of Ivan’s life.
